Reframing Aging: Research-Based Messaging

Strategies for Aging Advocates and Communicators

The FrameWorks Institute conducted a national multiyear project to identify the way members of the public think and talk about aging. The results were surprising and enlightening and became the basis for the Reframing Aging Project. This introductory web seminar is the first in a four part series on the topic of Reframing, from the American Society of Aging (ASA). Explore evidence-based strategies developed from this research for communicating more effectively about aging-related issues in this installment. Learn about framing, how to frame your messages, and what cues to avoid to help people think more like experts about ageism, demographic change and other policy issues. Resources and tools that are available free of charge from Frameworks Institute to support your reframing aging communication journey are also shared. Presenters: Krista Brown, Director of Education at ASA; Karen Kolb Flude, MS, RFG, Principal at Age with Ease, ASA Board Member.
