Research suggests that up to 90% of American older adults have been exposed to at least one traumatic event during their lifetime. This trauma affects adults as they age, as well as those who provide for their care. Although trauma is widespread, it often goes unrecognized in aging services. The person-centered, trauma-informed (PCTI) approach can help. The PCTI approach has been demonstrated to help older adults with a history of trauma and their family caregivers achieve and maintain improved wellbeing.

Join GIA and the Jewish Federation’s Center on Holocaust Survivor Care and Institute on Aging and Trauma to discuss Aging with a History of Trauma, a newly released guide for decisionmakers and direct service providers on how to implement the PCTI approach. This Member Meetup will include a brief presentation about this new publication as well as an open discussion on how you can implement the PCTI approach in your work.
