GIA provides opportunities for funders to connect, collaborate, and co-fund, while exploring the intersections of aging and other funding priorities. Members become part of a nationwide community, sharing strategies and strengthening their work in aging.
GIA membership is not just for senior leadership. Your benefits cover every person on your team, including trustees and board members.

The GIA network welcomes funders of all types, regions, and sizes that are exploring or investing in aging, including private, public, family, community, operating, and corporate foundations; government funders and agencies; non-profits; corporate giving programs; donor-advised funds; giving circles; private and public charities; social venture capital groups; individual philanthropists; and financial institutions. Whether or not aging is their primary focus, these funders recognize the value of applying an aging lens to their work.
Membership and conference attendance are limited to organizations for whom grantmaking is prominent in their mission, literature, and website, and represents at least a substantial portion of their annual budget.
Eligible Funders Include:
- Grantmaking organizations that make grants to multiple organizations for charitable, religious, educational, or scientific purposes.
- Organizations that do not restrict their giving solely to subsidiary chapters, Funder Member organizations, affiliates, or a single institution.
- Organizations that act as grantmaking intermediaries such as government entities, nonprofit organizations, initiatives, or collaboratives that grant, or re-grant, private and/or public dollars.
- Individuals committed to sustained, strategic philanthropy through their own private grantmaking.
- To be eligible, your organization should primarily act as a grantmaker, not as a grantseeker.
