Welcome to Grantmakers In Aging!

We are a member organization made up of funders of every type across the nation, dedicated to serving our aging population. GIA's mission is to promote and strengthen grantmaking for an aging society. Our member funders know that aging touches every aspect of life, from transportation to livable communities, from retirement to second - or third - careers, from palliative care to "grandfamilies," from housing to healthcare. Many foundations that don't consider themselves primary funders in aging often find that they do in fact make grants that improve the lives of older adults.

If you are a grantmaker, consider the impact of funding a segment of the population that is continually growing and changing the fabric of our world. Join us!

EngAGEment Initiative

The EngAGEment Initiative (click to view RFP) is entering a new phase as GIA seeks to increase awareness and increase funding for our aging population. With the generous support of The Atlantic Philanthropies and in partnership with Regional Associations for Grantmakers, GIA has introduced new opportunities for funders to get involved in aging-related grantmaking.

GIA plans to reach the majority of the thirty-plus regions in the U.S. through this collaborative and creative venture, significantly impacting local funding levels and focus, while accelerating the spread of innovation and best practices on aging within the philanthropic community.

About GIA

GIA provides a personal connection for its members to key people, high quality resources and state-of-the art ideas about aging and all issues related to aging. The centerpiece of GIA's programming is its Annual Conference. Additional member benefits include: Issue Discussions, Regional Forums, and access to ReCAP, an Internet-based resource area containing aging-related information of interest to grantmakers.
