GIA values its members and recognizes that their support is essential to advancing our vision of a just and inclusive world where all people are fully valued, recognized, and engaged at all ages. Together, we are working to create a philanthropic sector that reflects and upholds this commitment, and we are grateful for your ongoing dedication to this mission.
We’re making important updates to GIA membership dues for the 2026 membership year. While dues will continue to be calculated on a sliding scale based on the amount of funding your organization directs annually to aging-focused initiatives, dues levels will increase for the 2026 membership year. This is the first dues increase since 2020 and reflects the growth of our programs, the expanded value we provide to members, and our commitment to sustaining this work for the future.
Why This Change Is Necessary
Over the past four years, we have significantly expanded our services to provide more opportunities for funders to connect, collaborate, and co-fund. In addition to our signature annual conference, GIA now operates seven funders communities, organizes monthly virtual networking meetups on topics chosen by members, and hosts regional in-person meetings. We rebranded, redesigned, and rebuilt our website, helping you to “Learn, Network, and Act” to create a better later life for all. Our original funder-focused content enables you to leverage national strategies, spread and scale innovative models, and incorporate aging as a new or intersecting funding priority.
GIA has become a vocal advocate for better public policies and increased public resources for later life, adopting our first policy agenda in 2024 when we launched a campaign to reauthorize the Older Americans Act in partnership with Grantmakers In Health. We are now fighting to preserve the social safety net. Finally, we’ve worked to elevate aging philanthropy and highlight our members’ impact through national publications, TV appearances, and film, including Caregiving, a powerful new documentary produced by WETA, Bradley Cooper, and Lea Pictures; and Nonnas, a fun new Netflix movie with an all-star cast depicting intergenerational connection through food.

Beginning in 2027, dues in every category will increase annually by 3% to cover anticipated increases to the cost of doing business. |
Dues for National Aging Nonprofit Members are now set at a flat rate of $1,000 and are not subject to the annual 3% annual increase. If this increase presents a hardship for your organization, we encourage you to reach out—we are more than willing to discuss accommodations to ensure you remain part of our community.
With this increase, dues will cover approximately 25% of our core operating budget, which aligns favorably with similar organizations in the philanthropy space. Even so, our dues remain lower than those of many of our peer organizations. We understand that this change in GIA’s dues may require some adjustment to your budget, and we hope this advance notice and the standardized annual increase provide a transparent cost structure that will help all of us plan for the future with confidence.
If you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like to discuss any special considerations related to your organization’s dues, please do not hesitate to reach out to Lindsay at lgoldman@GIAging.org.
There is a lot of work to be done, and we are excited about our future together. Thank you again for your commitment to older people, and for your support of GIA.
