Funders are invited to join the RRF Foundation for Aging, the John A. Hartford Foundation, and Grantmakers in Aging for a special update on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. EST for an update on breaking Social Security news that has significant implications for older adults and people with disabilities.
Just this week, the Trump Administration scrapped proposed regulations that would have made the largest cuts to Social Security’s disability programs in history. (Read more in the Washington Post and Axios). This historic reversal follows months of sustained, coordinated advocacy led by the Social Security Rapid Response Collaborative—a funder-supported initiative designed to protect the nation’s vital Social Security system in real time.
With policy activity continuing, funders have a critical window to learn what comes next and how collective efforts are shaping federal outcomes.
During the briefing, leaders from the National Academy of Social Insurance, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, the Urban Institute, and AARP, along with funding partners, will share:
- updates on this week’s breaking news
- how coordinated advocacy contributed to this policy win
- the next steps for the Social Security Rapid Response Collaborative
The session will conclude with a discussion and Q&A.
